Thank you for your interest in the future of Abbey Academies Trust (AAT).
Since our Trust was established in 2014, we have much we can look back on with pride.
Our schools provide nurturing, ambitious, and inclusive environments underpinned by our distinctive Christian ethos. Outcomes are strong and we offer exciting opportunities for our pupils and staff. This is down to the commitment of our wonderful pupils, staff and local communities.
However, we also remain a relatively small Trust - with just over 1,000 children across our three schools. While we are proud of all that has been done to support these schools, we also recognise that as the educational landscape evolves we need to evolve with it.
Just since September, for example, the Government has announced the outcome of its Curriculum Review, Ofsted's new inspection framework has been released and the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill is being implemented. On top of this, we are also considering our more local response to changes in birth rate, leadership and pressures on our funding.
Taking all of this into consideration, we have been reflecting carefully on how we can continue to secure the very best future for our pupils, staff and community.
As a result, the Board of Trustees has chosen to begin a formal due diligence process to explore a voluntary merger with Infinity Academies Trust.
Infinity Academies Trust is an organisation whose ethos and values are closely aligned with our own. They place children firmly at the centre of their work, foster a culture of care and aspiration, and maintain a strong commitment to supporting staff to grow and succeed.
Importantly, they also demonstrate a deep respect for and commitment to our Christian foundations, ensuring that the distinctive character of our Trust remains celebrated and protected.
While we believe that exploring this opportunity could offer considerable benefits, we are at an early stage of the process. As part of our due diligence we want to fully understand the potential impact and advantages for our pupils, staff, and wider community.
This microsite has been created to keep you informed and give you the opportunity to ask questions, hear more about the process, and share your views. Open communication is extremely important to us, and we hope you will engage with the information and updates we will provide here.
